Growing up as a 90’s kids, Scooby-Doo is definitely one of my favourite animated TV programmes of all time. Well, Scooby was a pretty expressive dog. Although his speech was not as clear after all, but at least he can speak, and my dog only barks, “Woof!”

As a pet owner ourselves, we truly understand how other pet owners have wished to understand what their pet has to say – it might be the time where his dog has kept barking all night; when her cat suddenly decided to hate its sibling; or it might be that time when the pet has fallen sick and is passing. How the pet owners wish they could creep into the head of their pets! But will you trust the person who has shown up at your door, claiming that they could help connecting you to your pet?

I would like to call them the pet whisperer. Better known as an animal communicator or an animal psychic, the career has been truly controversial and mystical. They claimed to have the gift to communicate with animals, or can even become the bridge linking the pet owner with those pets who have already passed. Some are true believers of how animal psychics work, yet some remain skeptical about the scientific evidences behind to prove that these human-animal communications. We are as curious. Let’s have a further look on this.

So, how does this work? There are several explanations to this, according to the answers given by different animal psychics – some say it includes meditating to get into the right state of mind, some say it is all about tapping into the subconscious communication channel or telepathic communication – in which they could then exchange thoughts, and information such as odour, emotion, sound and picture with the pet, and thus start listening to them.

In short, it sounds like a supernatural gift you possess, just like any other psychic abilities some other people may have. Although some claimed that they can also learn it from courses, it really depends on if you are gifted (like Edward Cullen, who can read minds, hmm…), and that little faith by the pet owner to agree with you that it is working.

Where there is a demand, there is a supply.

As a loyal companion of life, pet is now the synonym of a family member. The frequent interaction and contact between the owners and their pets have built a bond so close that it mimics how we are linked to our family members. It is only normal then that the pet owners would like to understand further on what is going on in their pet’s mind, so they can better understand their needs, and thus fulfil their wishes.

An animal psychic is often brought into the picture for some specific reasons when the need for communication is urgent – to help locate the missing pet, to communicate with the pet to achieve the purpose for spiritual or behavioural therapies and training, etc.

There are even communication services provided to connect pets who have already passed. Perhaps it does not only help the owners to communicate with their pets; but also serves as a remedy to calm a grieving heart – to know that the pets are now living happily across the rainbow bridge.

Well, like any usual consultation sessions, the communication works face-to-face, where the animal psychics interact directly with the pets. However, some animal psychics can even make things happen at a distance!

All they need is some clear pictures or videos of your pet, the name of your pet, how you address yourself in front of them (mommy, daddy, bro or sis), and a list of questions you’d like to know the answers from your pet. Once they have “tuned in” the channel, the communication starts!

Anne: Can you ask Cocoa why he always pee in the living room?

Animal Psychic: He shows me the scene where everyone was staring at him, I think he meant to gain some attention from everyone.

Anne: Then we should stop overreacting, haha!

Animal Psychic: I am sorry, but I think we have to stop here. Time is up and I have another appointment coming up. That’s all for today, thanks!

After all, no one knows their pets better than the pet owners themselves. We are the one who have taken the most time staying, and caring for our pets. We know well about their habits, their appetite, their behaviours (some are even shaped by us really), and how do they usually react to different environments.

If something has really gone wrong, we will be the first person to have detected the changes. In my own view, there is nothing better than to spend more time with your own pet as the mean to know each other better. We have all sources of entertainment, but they only have us!
